Gabrielle Garland created Coloring Book from a series of drawings that became paintings of artists’ spaces.
Garland paints interior scenes that feel unexpectedly exposed, as if inhabitants just left. She has shown across the U.S. including at the Museum of Modern Art, Art Basel, and Now Chicago! – an exhibition of contemporary Chicago artists that coincided with the 2014 Biennale of Sydney.
Garland received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her MFA from the University of Chicago. She lives and works in New York.
