Pavo et Mus musculus exemplifies Wendy Given’s sense of the uncanny. She draws on her studies of nature, folklore, and myth in creating a striking image.
Given has shown nationally and internationally including Whitespace Gallery (Atlanta, GA), Tacoma Art Museum (Tacoma, WA), The Hallie Ford Museum of Art (Salem, OR), Vincent Price Art Museum (Monterey, CA), Kasher | Potamkin (NY), Humble Arts Foundation (NY), Chelsea Art Museum (NY), Fototropía (Guatemala City), and Übersee-Museum Square (Germany). She has held residencies at Caldera (Sisters, OR), JTHAR (Joshua Tree Highlands Artist’s Residency), and Signal Fire (Portland, OR) where she is currently an Assistant Guide.
Given received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA and her BFA from Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, GA. She lives and works in Portland, OR.
