In 8, and his companion piece Either Or, Stephen Slappe blends technology with absurdity in reflections on cultural indoctrination, transience, and escape.
Slappe’s work has been exhibited at Centre Pompidou-Metz (France), Portland Institute for Contemporary Art’s TBA Festival, and Transart Triennale (Berlin). An active video curator, he presented Out of the Great Northwest at The Horse Hospital (London), and Subduction Zone at The Front (New Orleans).
Slappe received his MFA from the University of South Carolina, and his BFA from the University of North Florida. He lives and works in Portland, OR.
