Mathew Zefeldt’s work balances improbable combinations – digital with classical; painterly foregrounds with computer-like backgrounds – using traditional oil and acrylic techniques. 100 Paintings is a compilation of his recent work.
Zefeldt has showed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Lisa Cooley Gallery, and MOHS Exhibit (Copenhagen). In 2012 he was an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center. His work has been reviewed in Daily Serving, New American Paintings, Art Fuse, and Beautiful/Decay.
Zefeldt received his MFA in Studio Art from the University of California-Davis, and his BA in Art from the University of California-Santa Cruz. He lives and works in Minneapolis.
